Postponing Your wedding? Here is how to look on the bright side

Having to postpone your wedding is not something that any couple will want to do. The fact that we are in the middle of a worldwide pandemic means that all Weddings will be postponed, let alone because it is due to a worldwide pandemic. However, that is the exact situation that some couples have found themselves in recently.

Covid-19 has taken a huge toll on all of our lives and left us knowing that 2020 is a year that we will never forget. One area that has definitely the impact is with weddings and other key events and celebrations.

If you are a couple who have had to postpone their wedding, then you may not be feeling particularly positive about things. However, here at Featherbarn we want to help you to try and look on the bright side as much as you can.

To help you to do this, we have put together our guide on how to try and be positive, even though it feels that all your hard plans have gone to waste.

Think about the future

One of the key things to remember is that you are not cancelling your wedding, you are postponing it. Chances are that you have been looking forward to and planning for your big day for a good year or two, which means that now you are having to add time to it, you will feel disappointed. Remind yourself that even if it feels that you have to start the countdown again, you still have it to look forward to in the future and believe us, it will be an even bigger celebration then you could have ever imagined.

Try not to think too much about it

We know that this sounds somewhat contradictory, but it is also important that you try not to let yourself be consumed by the fact that your wedding has been cancelled. Try to focus on other things that are going on and remind yourself that the world is still spinning around, even though it might feel that everything has fallen apart for you.

Still celebrate

If you are yet to see your special date come and go, then it is a good idea to plan in to still celebrate it when it happens. Don’t try to ignore it, this will make you feel a whole lot worse. Cook a romantic meal, dress up, maybe even arrange a Zoom catch up with all your bridesmaids and groomsmen for a virtual party. Anything that will make you feel a whole lot better about it not being the day that you hoped for.

Speak to your suppliers

It might be tempting to bury your head in the sand and pretend that things are not happening, but this really isn’t what you should be doing, it is important that you make the time to speak to all of your suppliers. You need to let them know what date you would like to book next year so that they can pop it in the diary and make sure that they don’t double book themselves. It is looking likely that 2021 will be a busy year for weddings!

Postponing your wedding isn’t ideal and you are going to feel sad about things, but, we can promise you, when you can celebrate with those closest to you, things are going to feel a whole lot more special and you really will have a day that you will never forget.
